HC Deb 08 April 1976 vol 909 c289W
Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Secretary of State for Employment to what causes he attributes the fact that the number of applications for temporary employment subsidy approved for the Northern Region is considerably lower than for any other region.

Mr. John Fraser

It is thought that the recession has been less severe on basic industries but take-up in the Northern Region has recently reached a level roughly in line with comparable regions. On 6th April 27 applications involving 2,900 workers had been received of which 17 applications affecting 2,012 works had been approved.
