HC Deb 08 April 1976 vol 909 cc272-3W
Mr. Wakeham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the approximate total number of local authority dwellings sold to their tenants in England and Wales in each of the last three years.

Mr. Armstrong

Local authorities in England and Wales reported selling, in 1975, 2,089 dwellings not built specifically for sale. Corresponding figures for earlier years appear in Table 41(a) of Housing and Construction Statistics, copies of which are available in the Library. Authorities' returns do not distinguish between sitting tenants and other purchasers.
