§ Mr. Trotterasked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the actual and percentage reduction in the number of Royal Air Force communications aircraft in the United Kingdom following the reduction in home-based communications squadrons from four to two; how many communication aircraft of each type will remain in service; and how many of each type will be withdrawn from service.
§ Mr. JohnThe change from four to two RAF communications squadrons in the United Kingdom reduced the number of communications aircraft from 42 to 25, which represents a reduction of 40 per cent. Thirteen Devons, six HS 125's, three Andovers and three helicopters remain in service; seven Devons, four Pembrokes and six helicopters have been withdrawn from service.
