§ 55. Mr. Liptonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will investigate the circumstances in which Luton 145W social services allowed a schoolgirl aged 15 years in council care to work as a prostitute.
§ Dr. OwenBedfordshire County Council, which is responsible for social services in Luton, is to set up an independent inquiry into this case. It is in consultation with my officials over a number of matters connected with the inquiry, including the membership and terms of reference.
