35. Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if, in view of the forthcoming Government aid to the Lancashire textile industry for modernisation and re-equipment, he will confine the grants to mills buying British-made textile equipment.

Mr. Carmichael

The Government have received no formal application from the Lancashire textile industry for financial assistance for an industry-wide scheme of modernisation and re-equipment.
