HC Deb 05 April 1976 vol 909 c70W
Mr. Pym

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what factors, other than weather, in the consideration of his Department substantially alter levels of production.

Mr. Peart

Apart from the weather and other unpredictable natural circumstances, changes in production levels result from decisions taken by individual farmers in the light of a large number of related factors. These include the present and expected returns for their products and costs of their inputs, the availability of funds for investment, technological developments, the effects of Government policies, individual farmers' finance and personal circumstances, their preferences and abilities and the location and physical circumstances of their farms.
