§ 21. Mr. Freudasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the sugar beet acreage for the coming crop; and whether he is satisfied that the current price paid is sufficient incentive to farmers to provide for domestic requirements.
§ Mr. Strang488,000 acres of beet were contracted for this year; offers of acreage for 1976 have not yet been requested by the BSC. The price of sugar beet has increased substantially over the last two years and it remains a very attractive break crop.
