§ Mr. BennAgainst a background of falling forecasts of electricity demand growth, the possible closure of a number of older stations in the financial year ending 31st March 1977 is currently under discussion in the electricity supply industry's National Joint Advisory Council.
The amount of plant required on the CEGB's system is reviewed annually, taking into account present and forecast levels of demand, the commissioning of new plant, systems security requirements and normal plant obsolescence. I understand from the CEGB that, in respect of the financial year ending 31st March 1976, 12 months' notification of closure was given in April 1975 to the following stations after consultation within industry's National Joint Advisory Council:
