HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 c190W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what further evaluation he intends making of the economic and social arguments relative to the future of the steel industry in Wales.

Mr. Kaufman

The Department is continuing its evaluation of the economic and social case for modernised steel-making at Shotton and of the British Steel Corporation's proposals for the expansion of steelmaking at Port Talbot.

The future supply of hot rolled coil to the tinplate industry in Wales is being considered in the course of this evaluation. No other studies of the steel industry in Wales are being carried out or planned by the Department at present
