Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many junior hospital doctors there were in Scotland at the latest available date;

(2) how the number of junior hospital doctors in post in Scotland compared with the authorised establishment at the latest available date; and what the shortage represents as a percentage of the total need;

(3) what percentage of junior hospital doctors' posts are filled by persons trained overseas.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many hours, including overtime, the average junior hospital doctor in Scotland works per week; and what percentage of this is overtime;

(2) what percentage of the average income of a junior hospital doctor in Scotland is gained from overtime work;

(3) how many more junior hospital doctors would need to be employed in Scotland to remove any requirement for overtime by any junior hospital doctor.
