HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 c551W
Mr. Christopher Price

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many tuberculosis visitors there were in post without health visitor certificates on 1st May 1974, and how many there were on 1st November 1975.

Mr. Meacher

The number of tuberculosis visitors without health visitor certificates in the NHS is not collected separately from those with the certificate. On 1st April 1974 the number of all NHS tuberculosis visitors in England was 146, and on 30th September 1974, the latest date for which figures are available, is provisionally estimated to have been 147 in whole-time equivalents.

Mr. Christopher Price

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will list the figures for the incidence of tuberculosis in 1973, 1974 and for the first half of 1975.

Dr. Owen

I indicated in my reply to the hon. Member for Chertsey and Walton (Mr. Pattie) on 16th October—[Vol. 897, c.771.]—the numbers of notifications during the period 1964–1974. The number of cases notified in 1973 was 11,180 (corrected) and in 1974 10,687 (provisional). For the first six months of the current year the provisional figure is 5,699.
