HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 c397W
32. Sir D. Renton

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will give a general direction to the Post Office to introduce a uniform rate for daytime telephone calls, in view of the congestion caused in the afternoon by the present arrangements for cheaper calls at that time.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

No. The management of the tariff structure to even out demand is a matter for the day-to-day management of the Post Office. In any event, I am advised that over the country as a whole traffic in the morning is still slightly higher than in the afternoon.
