HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 c383W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Prime Minister to what legislative or policy factors he attributes the increase in non-industrial staff in the Cabinet Office from 599 on 1st March 1974 to 658 on 1st July 1975.

The Prime Minister

This increase in staff was due mainly to establishing a Constitution Unit to handle the work on devolution policy and related matters. A contributing factor was some strengthening of the Central Statistical Office to improve the quality and speed of preparation of Government statistics.
