§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether the EEC contribution to food subsidies will be reduced in cash terms when the Government reduce these subsidies in accordance with the Budget announcement.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsThe only EEC contribution towards the cost of food subsidies in the United Kingdom relates to the general subsidy on butter. Any change in the overall rate or in the method of financing this subsidy would be discussed with our Community partners in the usual way.
§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what reduction in individual food subsidies she plans to make when the Chancellor's cuts on subsidies are implemented.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsThe reductions to be made in particular subsidies in 1976–77 will be decided nearer the time in the light of developing economic conditions and the expected price movements for the various subsidised foods.
