§ Mr. Gwynfor Evansasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied with the research programme in the field of radiation biology.
§ Mr. PrenticeYes. The Medical Research Council continues to support a substantial programme of research in this field, partly in order to determine the biological information on which standards of radiological protection, for workers and the public generally, should depend; and partly with a view to the practical uses of radiation in medicine—for example in radiotherapy and diagnosis. The council also makes an annual grant to the National Radiological Protection Board in support of its biological research programme. There are arrangements to co-ordinate the responsibilities of the two bodies.
