asked the Secretary of State for Industry what representations he has received concerning the effect of the proposed 25 per cent. VAT levy on boats and safety equipment.

My right hon. and noble Friend the Minister of State has received representations from the Ship and Boatbuilders National Federation about the effect of the increased VAT rate on boats and will be replying to them in due course.
