§ Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she will introduce legislation to ban the practice of referring to goods or services as "worth" a stated price or "worth less than" a stated price, without evidence being supplied by the seller that such goods or services are or were available at that stated price.
Mr. Alan Williams:The Director General of Fair Trading has announced that he is considering this practice with a view to making a reference to the Consumer Protection Advisory Committee in accordance with Part II of the Fair Trading Act 1973.
