§ Mr. Monroasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what discussions he has had with the EEC on future fishery policy; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Hugh D. BrownThe two main issues are fishery limits and market support. On the former the Government have made it clear to the other member States that should there be a general extension of fishery limits following the Law of the Sea Conference modifications would be required in the common fisheries policy. As regards marketing arrangements, aspects of these are under continuous discussion. Attention is currently concentrated on the problems arising in all EEC fishing countries from lower market returns.
