§ 34. Mr. Arthur Jonesasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if, in light of the fact that the United Kingdom pig breeding herd declined by 169,000 in 1974, he will take steps, as a matter of urgency, designed to reverse this trend.
§ Mr. Bishop:1974 was a difficult year for pig producers but their returns have increased substantially since the beginning of the year and markets are likely to remain firm. Feed prices are easing. I expect these developments to encourage a recovery in the pig herd.
