Short asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he can now state the cost to EEC funds in 1974 of subsidising the sale of beef at reduced prices to non-EEC countries.

Mr. Bishop:

As I explained to my hon. Friend in reply to her Question on 20th February, statistics about the Community's export refunds are not kept by my Department. The EEC Commission keeps the relevant statistics, and I understand from the Commission that the total cost to Community funds of export refunds paid for beef and veal in 1974 was £23 million.—[Vol. 886, c. 1542–43.]
