§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland why voluntary sports clubs and other organisations are classified as commercial or industrial users in respect of electricity consumption; and what is the electricity tariff in the Province for such clubs and the tariff applied in Great Britain.
§ Mr. Orme:The electricity tariff charged to any consumer by the Northern Ireland Electricity Service is determined by the pattern of consumption. A maximum demand tariff is applied in all cases where demand is high; e.g., many industrial and commercial firms and sports clubs which use floodlighting at peak periods. The application of tariffs in 414W Great Britain is a matter for my right hon. Friends the Secretary of State for Energy and the Secretary of State for Scotland.
