§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services in what areas of the United Kingdom byssinosis is most prevalent; how many people have benefited from the inclusion of byssinosis in the Industrial Injuries Scheme; and if she will make a statement.
§ Mr. O'Malley:The information available relates to claims in Great Britain for industrial injury disablement benefit in respect of byssinosis, over 90 per cent. of which come from the Greater Manchester area. The latest available figure shows 372W that 3,210 people were receiving benefit on 30th September 1973. Since then the conditions for benefit have been widened, as I announced in my reply to my hon.
