§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is the latest figure on the number of collective agreements that contain discriminating reference to women; and how many of these have women's rates less than 95 per cent. of the men's rate.
§ Mr. John Fraser, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 13th March 1975; Vol. 888, c. 219]. gave the following information:
At 31st December 1974 there were 92 collective agreements on the Department of Employment register which still contained discriminatory references to women. Of these 47 had women's rates which were less than 95 per cent. of the corresponding men's rates. It is known that since then discriminatory references to women have been removed from at least 12 agreements and that in others women's rates have moved above 95 per cent. of the corresponding men's rates. I regret that it is not possible to provide more precise figures on a day-to-day basis.
