§ Mr. Critchleyasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will encourage NATO to develop a uniform exterior auxiliary fuel drop-tank to fit all the various types of aircraft in service with the allied airforces.
§ Mr. William Rodgers:Aerodynamic considerations inhibit the fitting of one type of drop-tank to different aircraft and a range of tanks of different capacity is always likely to be required for operational reasons. We are, however, actively encouraging measures to improve interchangeability where this is possible.
