asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many National Health Service beds are available per 1,000 population, in each of the Scottish regional health board areas; and what were the figures for 1970 and 1965.

Mr. William Ross:

The latest date for which figures are available of the approved bed complements of the then regional hospital boards is March 1974. The figures at that date and in 1970 and 1965 are as follows:
