asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she is satisfied with the working of the Trade Descriptions Act 1972.

The Act, which requires origin marking for imported goods to which a United Kingdom name or mark is applied, should prevent consumers from being misled into thinking that such goods are manufactured or produced in this country.
