The percentages for the years since 1967–68 for which information is available are as follows:
1967–68 34½ 1968–69 36½ 1969–70 33½ 1970–71 38½ 1971–72 39½
For the purpose of these calculations, income recipients are persons whose income exceeds the annual equivalent of the PAYE deduction card limit. Husband and wife are counted as one.
