During this period the United Kingdom received approximately £297 million from the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund in respect of market regulation and restructuring under the common agricultural policy. Receipts from the European Social Fund in the same period amounted to approximately £22 million, and approximately £37 million was received as the refund of the cost of collecting "own resources". The European Coal and Steel Community in this period approved grants totalling approximately £20 million and loans totalling approximately £134 million to United Kingdom organisations.
