§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will publish in the Report Official the number of working families with incomes below the supplementary benefit level and the number of children in these families; and if she will classify the information between one and two parent families.
§ Mr. MeacherIt is estimated that at December 1973 the number of such families with children was 50,000 and that the number of children in these families was 140,000. Less than 20 per cent. were one-parent families or children in one-parent families.
These estimates are based on Family Expenditure Survey data and are subject to sampling error.
