§ 16. Mr. Brothertonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department by how much the Lincolnshire Police Force is under establishment.
§ 20. Mr. Peter Morrisonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he remains satisfied with police recruitment.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsOn 30th April, the strength of the Lincolnshire police was 1,145 and there were 31 vacancies. For the whole of England and Wales the strength was 103,181, a gain of 1,095 in the first four months of the year compared with a gain of 1,520 for the whole of last year. I am glad to say that recruitment is running at a high rate, and there are signs that wastage is slowing down. I hope that the pay award announced on 4th June will further encourage recruitment and help to reduce wastage.
