Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State of Northern Ireland (1) what is the total amount of money involved relating to statutory payments in Northern Ireland made by girocheques sent through the Post Office which have not been received by claimants, during the past 12 months;

(2) how many statutory payments in Northern Ireland made by girocheques sent through the Post Office have not been received by claimants, during the past 12 months and the past six months, respectively.

The value of such girocheques which were reported as not received by payees during the 12 months ending 31st May 1975 was £133,763. Over the same period the number of such girocheques which were reported as not received was 9,552, of which 4,826 were in the last six months.
