§ Mr. Eldon Griffithsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, in view of the proposals by Her Majesty's Government to give aid to Mozambique, he will name the Britishbased companies and the number of British citizens who own land or other assets in Mozambique and take steps designed to protect and safeguard these interests.
§ Miss Joan LestorI regret that the figures of British-based companies and United Kingdom citizens owning land or other assets in Mozambique are not at present available. I shall write to the hon. Member on this point.
If the need arose, we would be prepared to take up with the Government of Mozambique any case where it seemed appropriate to remind them of the importance which we attach to the equitable treatment of British investment.
