§ 71. Mr. Durantasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the present state of the Law of the Sea Conference in light of the recent Icelandic announcement.
§ Mr. EnnalsWe regret the decision of the Icelandic Government to extend their fishery limits to 200 miles while the Law of the Sea Conference has not yet reached a conclusion. It remains the policy of Her Majesty's Government to work for a new Convention which will be generally acceptable to all States. The Icelandic extension points to the need for urgency in the negotiations at the next session of the conference.
