HL Deb 29 July 1975 vol 363 c1005WA
Lord BALERNO

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much was allotted to local authorities in Scotland for the year 1974–75 in respect of the municipalisation of housing and, in consequence of this grant, how many additional students have been provided with accommodation and how many more places are likely to be provided by local authorities by (a) October 1975 and (b) October 1976.

The MINISTER of STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (Lord Hughes)

Approved expenditure on the acquisition of privately owned houses for addition to local authorities' housing stocks, for improvement or for demolition totalled just under £2½ million in 1974–75. I have no information about the amount of accommodation which has been provided for students by this means, or about local authorities' plans to provide accommodation for students.
