Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many industrial development certificates were granted in the Staffordshire Moorlands District in 1974; and how this compares with the figure for 1970.

Comparable [DC statistics for the years requested are available in respect of employment office areas only. The employment office areas of Biddulph, Cheadle and Leek approximate most closely to the Staffordshire Moorlands District. The numbers of IDCs issued for these areas combined were: 1970, 12; 1974, 2. The IDC exemption limits were raised in December 1970 and July 1972 and lowered in September 1974.
