Mr. Alan WilliamsDraft regulations which prescribe limits for extractable lead and cadmium in the food-contacting surfaces of vitreous enamel tableware and kitchenware have today been circulated to interested bodies for comment. The regulations, which are based on the British Standard for enamelware (BS 5180: 1974) will be made under the Consumer Protection Act 1961 as soon as possible after the completion of these consultations.
