§ Mr. MeacherSince January 1972 the single person's pension has risen, in cash 271W terms, by 93.3 per cent. and the married couple's rate by 90.7 per cent. After allowing for increases in prices, the single person's pension was worth 19.2 per cent. more in real terms in May 1975—the latest date for which figures are available—than it was in January 1972, and the married couple's pension had improved by 17.6 per cent. over the same period.
