asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many local authority mortgages for (a) house buying and (b) home improvements were awarded by local authorities in Wales in each year 1970 to 1974; and what was the total sum involved.

As to (b), the total amount of money advanced and the numbers of advances made by local authorities for conversions, repairs, improvements and other alterations (whether grant aided or not), under (i) Section 43 of the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act 1958, (ii) Section 74 of the Housing Act 1969 or (iii) To housing associations under Section 119 of the Housing Act 1957; during the years 1970 to 1974 are
