Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many civilian search officers there are in Northern Ireland; and under whose administrative and operational control they come.

The number of civilian search officers in employment at 30th June 1975 was 317, made up of 157 men and 160 women. The Civilian Search Unit comes under the administrative control of the Police Authority for Northern Ireland and the operational control of the Chief Constable of the RUC.
