HC Deb 04 July 1975 vol 894 cc598-9W
Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what is the average period of time between the announcement of an advance factory by his Department and completion of construction.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

Taking advance factories completed since February 1974, and including cases where land first had to be acquired, the average was 26 months.

Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many of the advance factories to be built in 1976–77 are to be located in Kirkby or on the Knowsley Industrial Estate.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

Nine advance factories totalling 140,000 square feet are under construction on the Knowsley Industrial Estate. Three are due for completion during the late summer and the remainder by the spring of next year.
