HC Deb 21 January 1975 vol 884 c331W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in view of difficulties for wheelchair users, mothers with prams, and the elderly at pedestrian crossings, he will consider having ramps rather than kerbs at every crossing; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Carmichael

This is a matter for local authorities. The Department has for many years recommended that ramps be provided at suitable sites.
