HC Deb 21 January 1975 vol 884 cc327-8W
Mr. Lamborn

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied with the operation of the Caravan Sites Act in the area of the Inner London boroughs generally and in particular in the London borough of Southwark.

Mr. John Silkin

Despite the difficulty of making suitable land available several Inner London boroughs have provided or propose to provide sites for gipsies in accordance with their duty under the Act. Southwark initially applied for exemption from this duty but is not pursuing the matter pending the outcome of its current search for a suitable site.
