§ Mr. OakesI understand that nine conservation areas have so far been designated in the Sheffield metropolitan district. They are designated by the local planning authority; they do not need confirmation by the Secretary of State.
Part of the metropolitan district of Sheffield which was formerly in the West Riding is covered by approved green belt. Within the former county borough of Sheffield which includes the boundary with the Peak District National Park, a sketch green belt was drawn up in 1938. It has never been submitted for formal approval by the Secretary of State. I am sending the hon. Member a map which indicates the boundaries of the approved green belt. Details of the conservation areas and of the sketch green belt will, no doubt, be available from the city council.
