§ Mr. KaufmanParagraph 29b of the circular gave local authorities general authority for 1974–75 to the acquisition524W of accommodation falling within the categories set out in paragraph 30 of the circular. From returns so far received from English local authorities of acquisitions made under that general authority it is estimated that, up to the end of December 1974, about 100 empty dwellings had been acquired in pursuance of confirmed compulsory purchase orders, and some 9,500 by agreement under paragraph 30c.
