§ Sir George Youngasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what evidence she has of delays in receiving pension and child allowance books; what action she proposes to take to reduce such delays; and if she will make a statement.
§ Mr. Alec JonesRetirement pension and family allowance books are generally sent to the relevant post office about two weeks before they are due to be handed to the beneficiary, and I have no evidence that these arrangements normally involve any delay. I am writing to the hon. Gentleman about the case with which he is concerned, where the temporary closure of a post office caused difficulties.
