§ Dr. SummerskillSuch experiments are controlled under the Cruelty to Animals Act 1876. I am satisfied that, in accordance with the requirements of the Act, they are performed with a view to the advancement by new discovery of knowledge which will be useful for saving or prolonging life or alleviating suffering. I shall keep this matter under review.
