§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what were the original pay awards forecast for 1975–76 and the revised pay awards which led to an increase of £1.3 million in the salaries of staff employed in overseas aid administration, Supplementary Estimates Class II, 9.
§ Mr. PrenticeI have been asked to reply.
In accordance with standard practice the 1975–76 Estimates were based on existing salaries. There were two pay awards to the Civil Service during the financial year, effective from 1st January and 1st April, which led to the need for an increase of £1.3 million in the provision for salaries in my Department.
