HC Deb 15 December 1975 vol 902 c466W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his latest estimate of the savings resulting from his policy of recycling products.

Mr. Oakes

The Government are convinced that large savings on our import bill can be obtained from the increased use of waste materials. The Waste Management Advisory Council is assessing savings in relation to particular commodities, but it is not possible to say at present what the total might be.
