asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many persons, according to the latest available statistics, are employed under minimum list heading 342 of the standard industrial classification in each of the following employment exchange areas: Birtley, Blackburn, Bridgwater, Chorley, Enfield, Nottingham, Eccles, Crewe, Renfrew, Newbridge, Monmonthshire, and Leeds.

This Department's employment figures are obtained under the provisions of the Statistics of Trade Act 1947 and can be disclosed only in a form which ensures that information about individual undertakings cannot be identified. Consequently the figures below relate to Order VII (Mechanical Engineering) of the Standard Industrial Classification (1968) rather than to the individual Minimum List Heading 342. Also the figures for Newbridge have been combined with those for Risca.

(2) how many persons, according to the latest available statistics, are employed in each of the occupations listed under Group XIV of the standard occupational analysis under minimum list heading 370 of the standard industrial classification in each of the following employment exchange areas: Barrow—in—Furness, Birkenhead, Wallsend, Devonport, Chat- ham, Portsmouth, Inverkeithing, Partick, Glasgow;

(3) how many persons, according to the latest available statistics, are employed in each of the occupations listed under Group XIV of the standard occupational analysis under minimum list heading 342 of the standard industrial classification in each of the following employment exchange area: Birtley, Blackburn, Bridgwater, Chorley, Enfield, Nottingham, Eccles, Crewe, Renfrew, Newbridge, Monmouth and Leeds;

(4) how many persons, according to the latest available statistics, are employed in each of the occupations listed under Group XIV of the standard occupational analysis under minimum list heading 383 of the standard industrial classification in each of the following employment exchange areas: Hatfield, Kingston, Stevenage and Preston.
