HC Deb 15 December 1975 vol 902 c532W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if a minimum selling price for oil is included in the EEC mandate for the International Energy Conference; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hattersley

The EEC mandate for the Conference on International Economic Co-operation takes account of the United Kingdoms position on the question of a minimum selling price for oil, and of the agreement reached at the European Council meeting in Rome on 2nd December. The Commission will propose, and the Council will decide, as soon as possible, on appropriate mechanisms to protect and ensure the development of alternative sources of Community energy on reasonable economic terms.
